How we make money

Our guides, calculators and family kit are free. We keep them free in a few ways, and we want you to know exactly what they are:

• Agent requests. When you ask to talk with a licensed agent, we connect you with one participating agent who serves your state. That agent may pay us a flat advertising fee for the introduction. The fee doesn't depend on whether you buy, and it doesn't change the price of any policy.
• Partner links. Some pages may link to insurance marketplaces or planning services (such as online wills). If you sign up through those links we may earn a referral fee.
• Advertising. Some informational pages may show display ads.

Payments never determine what our guides say, and we don't rank or endorse specific insurers. If a product isn't a good fit for most people — like buying guaranteed-issue coverage when you could qualify for something better — we say so.
